Renting Flats.......

Hey I wasnt sure whether this would be the right section but I thought Id give it a go. Basically Im just about to start a job which is a little way away so eventually Im hoping ot move out to nearer. My knowledge of renting is very poor, but I know they check your finances and my question is what exactly are they looking for in terms of income and how much ideally would you already have in savings. Are there any other things potential landlords will also require?

Find a decent landlord or a professional estate agency would be my main point of advice, I've suffered a lot of agro, stress and headf*ck from dodgy landlords and cowboy estate agencies. Think; Do I want to entrust where I'm gonna live to this person??
