I'd much rather waste my money on stupidly good computers and then I can use WMP
Would like to add, I don't like the sound of ipod or sony on the basis of the software requirement. I hate with a passion anything that requires specific software.. because the software is always crap. Unless it's a driver or something, there's no need for it. I know some people might like iTunes but if you don't like it; then why isn't there a 'drag and drop' option from the HDD? If there is actually that option, I withdraw my criticism, just going on what I've read in this thread.
Also, they're all ridiculously overpriced and you're all mugs for spending that amount of money
Expensive mp3 players are to a large extent fashion accessories though, and you end up paying for this.
i've been trying to decide on a player for over a year now (goddamn my pesky research gene) and had pretty much decided on a cowon iaudio x5, due to the amazing amount of features packed into it (incl. video) and brilliant reviews (despite some criticism around navigation)

BUT then cowon released the a2 in korea *droools*... and now the ipod video is out ...
given that the ipod video has tv-out and god knows when the a2 will be released in europe, i thought my mind had been made up for me, but then i started reading reports about the ipod's crappy battery life: only 2 hours of watching video - eeeek!!!
anyway, with xmas around the corner, i bet there will be plenty of new goodies coming out soon, so i guess i can wait a few more weeks... *groans & scuttles back to modsville*
You make me wish I was blind.
I've had my ipod for nearly a year. No problems, battey life is pretty good, I've had no real trouble.
Well done Hellfire, you have got me down to a T. With your insight, you could fight crime!
Quick Hellfire, the city needs you! Go man, GO!
Jesus, the ipod hating bandwagon jumping is worse than folk getting them because they look cute.
The screen of my zen micro is tres fucked. Yeh it was my own fault (I dropped the fucker) but gahhhhhhh. *Cries*
Anyone know whether the LCD screen of a zen micro can be changed/fixed?
The place where you got it from? I got a Creative Zen Micro as well at the wekend and i's extremely confusing..
Shoulda borrowed Hellfire's fantastic gravity defying case then eh?
They can be fixed as with anything, but it'd be stupidly fiddly to do yourself - and getting hold of a new screen could be nigh on impossible. And as with any customer service, they'll probably charge you more than the player itself to change it. Ring them and find out.
You type like you've read too many text messages for your own good. You've obviously never actually used/seen an ipod and you've decided that you hate them because everyone likes them, and the Emo way is to hate everything a majority of people like. Well done chimp boy.
I'm just gonna point out that although I no longer have it, my iPod never really caused me any real problems until I took it to high altitude (which was a silly thing to do). The only problem I had with it was that it had to reset everything on the iPod before it let me update it, which wasn't too much of a problem, because I never updated it that much anyway.
The photo iPod my dad now has is the fucking shit though. It was so pretty and nice and colourful . And it worked, and it was simple enough for my dad to figure out. Hey ho.
Both my sister and her friend have Zen micros. My sister's stopped working randomly, and now refuses to work at all. This amused me greatly, which I guess is quite mean.
He is highly dyslexic, hence the seemingly meaningless sentances. I know for a fact that he has used an iPod and is speaking from experiance, so FOAD cockbite
Users don't come with warning labels son, if i had known then maybe i would have been slightly nicer about it. I've used a variety of different Zens, and have seen the things break, so i'd like to think i'm also speaking from experience. Bear that in mind in future.
Sony players have supported mp3 (as well as their own format) since the beginning of this year. The new Walkman A3000 and A1000 will also support wma after a firmware update in December.
Obviously I am mistaken and only own one because I wish to appear cool and fashionable.
