    At 14 you're still a child.
There isn't really many jobs you can do at that age aside from paper rounds and odd-jobs for parents, neighbours etc.

Paper rounds are notoriously underpaid and generally cack. At age 12-14 there's nowt else you can do so many people put up with it.

You've got years of work ahead of you, enjoy being carefree while you can.

Yes, I know this thread is dead. It is just to prove that I did my research.

All the searches I did brought up paper rounds, but there must be something that a fourteen year old can do! I'm desperate for a job or anything, but I would like some extra cash.

Some of my friends are pot washers at a restaurant and babysitters, but the pot washers said they were sixteen and I don't know anyone who has kids that need babysitting.

There are all sorts of things you could do but you need to check with your local council to find out what the rules and regulations are for when and where you can work.

Try asking local shops and businesses if they have any work available to you

    what age can i?

The best option is just ask around if anyone needs an extra hand, or if there are any jobs going. I should do that - I'm 16 and still have no job. :(

Bloody hell, you want a job - yet the job open to you, you're not willing to do. I had a paper round for 3/4 years. You think I enjoyed it?, no.

I know the thread is dead.. just a point.

Anybody who hires young children work by slave labour. Peanuts for hardwork. Children shouldnt be allowed to work in my opinion.. Why would they need to? Accept in exceptional circumstances.. even then, childhood is about just that, being a child ~ and learning. Not about working.

wanted to add my thoughts to this extinct thread.

Jobs without need for qualification (shop work for example) are given to 16 year olds because theyre cheap and can do the job just as effectivly as older people.. there are so many older unemployed people out there, because jobs are being given to 16 year olds who ahve parents to support them.

It isn't that I won't deliver papers, but there are only two newsagents within walking distance. One has no vacancies and the other one paid so badly his own daughter quit.
