    hmmm im northern, according to your rule tho sheffield and stoke are south of manchester and i class them as northern....i generally draw my line at birmingham, altho i aint one of these whos bothered about north/south divide, i judge each on their merits.

    ETA: and all those who think northerners are more friendly, thats strictly not true, in and around the north west there are some of the most horrible and vile people you could ever meet, as there are everywhere in this country. Ive been fortunate to have been to pretty much every corner of this country, and there are good and bad people everywhere.

    hmm on previous evidence, i'd never take note of English geography from a northerner.

    I mean.. whenever i go up north i always get branded a Cockney. They are under the illusion anyone living within the M25 should star in only fools and horses.

    South of Sheffield diagonally to Manchester is the North. Stoke and Nottingham are midlands, anywhere south of about Luton is the South.

    I'm a Northerner. Best place to live.

    Any northerners raising their hands is a rare sight, it certainly makes a change from dragging them along the ground.

    And having travelled the country in various jobs over the years, I can say safely say that I could have ended up far worse places than the south west - where I am now.
