I've decided to try again after my exams.

As someone who employs people I can understand their views. Most companies are looking to permanent staff and to take you on would cost them money, having to advertise the job again in a few weeks.

That said, I am assuming you aren't applying for a temp job. Y not go to a Job agency which specialises in temp jobs. I know we often employ students during the summer, as cover for employees taking their own leave.

Couldn't you just apply for a shop assistant job? I applied at this time a year ago for my job at WHSmiths on Saturdays and they offer me extra work all the time (holidays, bank holidays, Sundays, after school during the Christmas season etc). Shops are nearly always advertising for part-time staff, the pay isn't bad and you often get discounts.

supermarkets arent so bad. i can imagine stacking shelves can be quite dull, especially in my dept where my fingers would freeze off in the fridges! im on the deli though and make pizzas and slice meats and do the whole curry pot thing, in asda, and its not bad, and the money's pretty good <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/smile.gif">

I work front desk at a hotel, it's pretty boring but we have an internet connection for email reservations so I can go on thesite and kill time...

I'm going to college in September but I didn't tell my boss this... I'm going to quit after the first week in August... I don't know what to tell her! I was thinking of saying that my dad wants me to go live with him in California and it's an opportunity I can't give up... any other suggestions? (I know I was bad not to say but I needed a job!)
