As Mr Bad Seed or whatever his current name is said, it would just be a lot fairer on the world if someone nuked Stoke. It was Britain's worst place to live before any of this Hull and Luton malarkey. The original and the best/worst.

    But Newcastle-under-Lyme isn't Stoke, it's all good. :D

What factors decide how crap a town is?
  • SkiveSkive Posts: 15,285 Skive's The Limit

HAHA! Am I the only one who thinks there's worse places than Hull.
    I like living here.
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,875,648 The Mix Honorary Guru
There are places in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales that are worse than some of the towns on that list.

A crap town, high unemployment, high crime, bad scenery, concrete jungles, all that sort of stuff.

I disagree with the list. I can't see why some of the places are on it

    Agreed. I like Oxford ;(.

However: 33 South Woodham Ferrers...oh so true.

Stevenage should *so* be on that list. It is utterly dire. Its only redeeming feature is a nice ig Primark, however the disadvantages weigh out the good so I tend never to go.

I hate the town I'm living in right now. It probably explains why I'm moving soon.

I live in Hull... voted the worst city in Europe and also home to the biggest council estate in Europe.

Anyone heard of the infamous Silhouette Club?
Even the police were scared of that place!

I've just graduated from Hull and loved every second of Hull - didn't venture near to Bransholme though! Friendly people, leafy surroundings and an accent that is much easier to poke fun of than my (now diluted) Barnsley dialect. I like Silhouttes, it's a half decent indie night but getting rather packed out with pouty 6th Formers.

I hate my town, a wretched hive of scum and villainy. No culture, no graduate scene, no bands and nowhere to buy broadsheet newspapers. It's too far from Leeds for a night out and the white/working class nature of this ex-mining town makes me sick. Apparently though, the guys that wrote League of Gents lived here whilst at university...

Sorry, but none of these seem to be in Wales, I mean Rhyl is terrible for example...

one of my old housemates comes from there, and the other one is just down the road from it

The accent is quite funny, it's just the laziest dialect I've ever heard.

I was actually reffering to the rave/dance nights they used to have there... heard of R'House? Good events and not a bad club but jesus, people falling all over covered in blood, tense atmosphere, bottles being thrown/smashed over peoples heads, stabbings outside, drug overdoses all the time etc. It just attracted all the nobheads off every estate and crack/smack heads alike(no offence to anyone like)! When the nights first started though they were packed out with up-for-it ravers it was pretty good.

Crap Towns 2 is the new and updated version. I think Luton wins that one.

aye, quite possibly. they went to bretton hall college, when it was still bretton hall college.

i can't believe there aren't more parts of west yorkshire on there. castleford, in particular, is a hell-hole. ditto parts of dewsbury and the vast majority of south leeds.

Newport (am I being unkind anyone?) Any of you know The Merenger pub - never again. The Wetherspoons is good though.
