    hey, be cheerful, I only get £3.25 an hour. I don't even know what the minimum is! Anyway, I'm only 16, so I don't bother myself about it much - I only spend it on music and clothes.

    Sorry, I guess that that wasn;t much use. Sorry!!!

    The new minimum wage only applies to over 21's as far as I am aware.

    I don't think they're is a minimum wage for under 21's.

    £3.20 per hour for workers aged between 18 and 21 years.
    £3.70 per hour for workers aged 22 years or older. £4.10 per hour with effect from 1 October 2001.

    You work at ASDA don't you?(If i'm remembering previous posts correctly) I got rejected by them last week and I can't believe it.

    I was a shift manager at McDonald's for 2 and a half years, and now i'm not fit for shelf stacking. There's something not quite right there me thinks.

    awwww jeffrey <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/frown.gif"&gt; yeah that is where i work. you know a lot of it with asda is to do with the personality you project, they want people who are really outgoing (or at least pretend to be <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/tongue.gif">) and its to do with their "asda values" and stuff. but im sure you were capable of doing the job, its a shame you didnt get in <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/frown.gif"&gt;

    I got turned down by ASDA also, guess I wasn`t outgoing enough.
    Screw their values!
    I`m working at Tesco now, we got 1 billion profits so nah nah nah nah nah.
    I get £3.55 an hour now, but I think that goes up to £4 sumthing when I hit 18. I`ll be full time soon cos College are gonna chuck me out <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/smile.gif"&gt;
    The pay is quite sucky at Tesco but it is surprisingly quote a good place to work.

    After figuring out the exchange rate, I can now tell you that I earn £4.5/hour, which is a lot more than the minimum wage here which is £2.27/hour (no matter what age a person is)...

    The extreme faction is closer than you thought.

    Yep. As a result of our sorry minimum wage a lot of people are working 2 jobs and are still below the poverty line.

    However, things are cheaper in the US in general, so it's understandable that our minimum wage would be lower than yours (just not by as much as it is)

    take a look here: http://www.thesite.org/careers/work/the_minimum_wage.html

    I don't think there is a minimum wage for under 18 year olds. I'll be on £4.12 per hour at my new job + £10 responsibility allowance. I'm 18 so thats ok.

    I was on £2.80 when I was 16 and £3.25 when I was 17. My mate was on £2.20 when he was 16.

    Yeah and whats wrong with that?

    A responsibility allowance is when I'm doing a job with responsibility believe it or not...so I get an extra £10 a week for it. Which isn't bad cause that amounts to over 2 hours pay.

    nothing's WRONG with it (?!). you just said "i'll be on..." and i thought hang on, arent you on that already? just confusing thats all.

    you dont have to be so defensive all the time. i was only asking, and i didnt know what a responsibility allowance was. and now i do <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/smile.gif"&gt;
