Hi all!
I have been without any sort of drug for 6 weeks (even tabbaco only that only been 4 two weeks!) i decided that my exams and health were more important than drugs.
Coz after all i only did them so i could have fun and i have found out that you can still have great fun without them.
I recokon that mayb u only need to try them every once in a while to make sure you can acess that otha bit of brain that stright people cant get to.
I aint saying i am permenatly off but after worrying so much that i waznt gna stop once i started here i am living proof that it aint at all hard!
Good luck to anybody else who iz giving up or who isnt eva gna start!

An eye for an eye makes the world blind.
I think most people who consume drugs realise that you don't need them to have a good time. Drugs just put you in a different state of mind than your used to. They help you lose your inhabitions and therefore talk about things with people you otherwise wouldn't.
When you go down the pub or to a party you may not do illegal drugs but I bet you drink. Is alcohol not just another drug to help you have a good time. I have been told time and time again by people that
'At least I don't need drugs to have a good time'
but then I point out to them having 8 pints down the pub isn't really any different than having a couple of joints or pills.
I not having ago 'cause you probaby don't realise the amount of respect for you I have for keeping clear of drugs. Fair play to you is all I can say.
If people who have done drugs then stop and preach about their evils, then fair play as well. It's people who've never done them and come out with loads of bollocks and label people who consume drugs as 'Druggies' in a derogatory way who relly get on my tits.
Overall I can see a bad side to drugs but far clearer to me is the wonderful side. You only live once and who knows, tommorow you might fall over and break your neck. I just want to live life for the moment . Maybe that's pretty irresponsible but that's me.

ive never taken drugs or smoked in my life, and dont intend to. im not going to rule it out and say never. well i will about smoking coz i hate the thought of that. i do drink though, so i cant judge people too much because it does look hypocritical.
i suppose its a case of you dont know what its like until you try it. like people who are so sure theyre not going to like sex, and then find out they in fact do (i have a few friends who seem determined never to even find out what going out with someone is like and think they dont need it or want it.. relationships i mean, not just sex.). so i guess i cant really say too much about drugs, having never been there myself.

Why?
I take drugs admitidly when I go clubbing but I still have fun without them, I don't need them 24:7 or just to enjoy myself
Quite the opposite, if I can manage without them then obviously I can find other ways of entertaining myself...
If you need to have them permenantly then I'd be worried mate, life has its own highs without drugs all the time... I use them at weekends to enhance the night, during the week I'm clean but still manage to enjoy myself at times...
I don't hate you, never said I did mate.. chill out... as you've probably realised, the people in this place aren't the attitude wanna-be bad bwoy type.. so relax

I don't drink. Okay, so it's mostly down to the fact that I haven't yet liked anything alcoholic that I've tried so far, and I posted a q on here some time ago saying "what sort of drinks are around these days?" to find out what I should try, but I think I probably won't ever drink alcohol except to taste it. I've never touched tobacco or drugs and I've always enjoyed myself at parties and clubs (being the sober one is hilarious ).
I'm not saying that drinking alcohol is bad. Nearly everyone I know gets drunk once in a while, and I would never, ever slate them for that. I try to keep an open mind. Drugs and smoking - if a friend of mine started, I'd do my best to help them stop, I think they're not good things. However, that's just my opinion!

Why?
I mean at first the answer to that is obvious but if you friend made an educated decision to start using drugs then all you can do is give them your opinion. I wouls never try and stop someone, unless they clearly had a problem or were being led into it by another party or if what they were about to do posed a serious health risk for them e.g. injecting a drug or taking heroin.
In my view i people have thought about it long abd hard they should have the choice to do what they want as long as what they're doing dosn't hurt anyone else or effect anyone else's rights.

Some people are very keen on making sure people accept them for who they are, however if you explain your views they will accept them and saying you'll still be their friend and be there for them is a real boost...
........if they wanted to! And I'd hope they'd do the same for me.

Anyone been watching C4's "Drug laws don't work" series??
I've been all over the place in the drugs world, starting alllll the way back from when I was 13. I've tried most of the major drugs except LSD for some reason. I've been a user, a dealer, a middleman, been to festivals, larged it at clubs, ripped off on the street, experienced the highest highs and the lowest lows, even helped supply a huge shipment to the UVF in Ireland. From my experience I've learned that most drugs are fairly crap, but you can have a lot of fun with 'em.
Most of this is behind me now, except weed. If I was really honest with myself I would say I'm psychologically addicted to it. There's hardly a day goes by that I don't smoke a joint or two, and that's pretty damn sad. I have suffered side-effects from it, some of my friends have suffered a lot more than me because of it. I failed my medical for my current job twice (but got waved through on the second anyway) as I didn't have the willpower to put the spliff down.
So Eizwicked, I salute you, you're a stronger person than I.
Do I regret it though?? No, I don't think so. Without the experiences I've had and the people I've met I don't think I'd be as happy as I am now.
Only users lose drugs
wierd, i'm just watching the program now. they've done a bit on mixing drugs & right now their talking about the fact that the majority of drug users (wether it be legal or illegal drugs) smoke cigarettes. something to do with gateways. i thought that was a supermarket lol.

be happy
It's wonderful to hear that you made a decision and had the willpower to stick with it. I have almost 4 months clean off IV cocaine, so I know how tough it can be and also how wonderful it is to get straight. It sounds like you didn't have too hard a time quitting, but I should point out that it is different for each person and each circumstance.
The program you are discussing sounds interesting. Can you summarize what it said about legalizing heroin? I quit heroin 5 years ago and have some mixed feelings about legalization.
It wasnt me.
