GMT question

Hello.. wondering about GMT (greenwhich mean time). I have always been wondering why Greenwhich is one hour after. Because greenwhich lies in GMT plus 1 if i got it right... ´why? greenwhich mean time is not plus 1, it should be 0..

Anybody know why?

    in the winter we use GMT and in the summer we go forward an hour GMT +1 to british summer time BST - hope that helps.
