A380 First Flight Today!!!

Another one for the history books, Airbus' A380 Twin Deck "Superjumbo" flew for the first time today, take off commenced at 10:30, and all went according to plan...

Couldn't find the takeoff video online yet, but here are the flyby and landing videos...

That plane is awesome.

Check out http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/2/hi/business/4488361.stm and on the right they have a video of it taking off. Very very cool. I just hope it's not like concorde though where you have to pay loads for a seat.

Funny thing about concorde is it's more advanced than the planes of today yet we've stopped using it in favour of more primitive things. :chin: makes you think really...

Its because the French can't clean their damned Runways of junk! :mad: They fucked it up for all of us!

Plus Concorde costs a bomb to keep flying as it gets older. And they won't let Richard Branson buy it. He should buy some Tu-144's instead.

Well it is not really more advanced, its fuel consumption was through the roof, it was impractical for journeys not over seas(because of the sonic boom and people complained about that over land), and the cost of maintenance outweighed its revenue. It was designed in the 70's(not a bad thing just design improves with time). Although its jet engines were faster, the new A380 uses more fuel efficient systems and a whole bunch of light weight composites that are at the forefront of technology.

on a lighter note, any airplane that can have a jacuzzi and a mini casino wins hands down imo :P

Anyway not bad for a plane only a little bigger then a Jumbo Jet - now it needs a cool name A380 don't sound very cool.
