I have been reading about schizophrenia lately and wondered how applicable this phenomenon (the double bind) is to the area of politics.

Basically it's mixed communication leading to a fucked up head.
Examples might be -
"I am telling you to take charge"
"Don't be so dependent"
"Always doubt yourself"
"Dominate me"
"Be spontaneous - NOW"
So I am thinking of -
"Free government" - "illegal immigrant" - "We, the people" - "The people of Britain" - "Fair taxes" - "Pre-emptive defence" - "welfare state" -
And all the others that are self contradictory. Any more spring to mind?
Any ideas how you would go about removing these binds?
