New Conservatives

Shouldn't we be open and honest, and finally admit what we all in reality know? That New Labour is nothing more than the New Conservatives. Its simply an old party wrapped up in new clothes, clothes it borrowed from the Tories.

Trouble is, what do we call the Tories?
Don't all rush at once ...... ;)

seeing as the tories were horrified by the minimum wage ...family tax credits ...massive public spoending ...

and i'm sure it was you who said recently that gordon browns very crafty way of redistributing the wealth of the nation was old labour in disguise ...socialist ...i could be wrong though.

To me they are, anything Socialist is in my view. Gordon Browns cunning redistribution of wealth through stealth hasn't gone un-noticed!

See what I mean about your 'consistency problem' Rich Kid?

But thats the point. Mandelson, Milburn, Byers & Blair concocted the concept of "New Labour" whereas Brown by tradition and gut instinct is "Old Labour".
For the first two years they followed Tory spending targets but broadly speaking, apart from taxation, they've shown a tendency to be "conservative" - small "c". This appears to be on the wane as the thin veneer of "conservativism" is disappearing as Gordon's influence and power increases, and in the not too distant future I'm sure we'll see "Old Labour" make a comeback. Hope so, then they'll be unelectable, as in the good old days.

Strangely enough, polls show that Labour would be heading for a .landslide if Brown, rather then Blair were the leader.
The poll found that Labour under Blair is on course to win a majority of 122 seats in the general election, compared with a potential majority of 234 seats under Brown. A Brown-led Labour Party would gain 48 percent of voter support, which is 11 percentage points more than those saying they will support the party under Blair.

Which kinda pisses on your tea-party somewhat.......

Labour will win this election with a huge majority. I'd sit at home if I were you with a beer enjoying the spectacle.
I just sense that the third administration will be when the wheels come off the Labour wagon and they're shown up for what they really are, incompetents.
Meanwhile the Tories will ditch Howard for Davies, Kennedy will be under pressure, and the whole political landscape could be changed.
The cream on the cake would be Labour riven with splits between the "New" wing and the "Old" wing, each destroying one another.

Why haven't New Labour got more candidates from the ethnic minorities? They're forever bleating on about how racist the Tories are?

    We should be told.

shouldnt it be on who is a better candidate rather than what skin colour they have?

Funny how you turn it around when faced with an unplatable truth.
The one party that Labour continually criticises for being racist has the most candidates from ethnic minorities, funny that.
And yes I agree it should be about "quality" but why are the "quality" candidates choosing to stand for the Tories?

i could want or choose to stand for the tories, but they wouldnt have me, see what i mean how your argument is flawed
