I don't know about legalised, but I'd like to see it decriminalised, much like the pilot scheme being run in Brixton at the mo.

Only users lose drugs

I agree with LoL, we had a discussion like this not long ago:
http://www.thesite.org/ubb/Forum8/HTML/000342.html

and as I said then...

I think cannabis should be downgraded further and perhaps issued on a licence basis or age limit for example where small amounts for personal use would be accepted, If cannabis was decriminalised then it should follow suit with similar laws are alcohol with regards to work (ie. companies would have to issue regulation stating no cannabis use while at work for safety reasons) and perhaps special cafes like in holland to prevent smoke coming into contact with children in public areas.

I agree that cannabis users are less troublesome than alcohol ones but one thing I've always noticed with regards to classification on drugs is that in contrast to ecstasy, cannabis is a powerful mind drug.

Thanks.. <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/smile.gif">

If cigs and Alcohol are legal. Marijuana should definately be legal. But it may not ever be.

Statistics show that Marijuana is a lot safer than alcohol. Easily.

So what is the fuckin problem? The problem is they wont be able to bust people for it anymore, so they wont make nearly as much money if they legalized it and taxed it.

Who would wanna smoke their pot anyway if its legal ill grow my own without all those addatives they will probably put in there.
• Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
how do they make money from busts? Surely they would make more money form taxation.
• Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
you gotta be kiddin. they bustin em like crazy. Just 3 days ago i heard the UPS guy talkin about someone trying to ship 5 lbs thru the mail.. haha dumbasses

The cops here will stop you and search you and if they dont find anything they'll just plant a bag in your car. And when they do find something, they turn you in for half of it and sell the rest or smoke it. heh its fukd

Besides if they legalize it and tax it im not buyin it anyway cuz i can grow my own.

I believe it should be decriminalised. Marijuana is more dangerous to smoke than cigarettes, however this is largely due to the way that it is smoked i.e. without a proper filter ...but even if people know this, it will not stop them so it is in the interest of the public for valuable police resources to be channeled into areas where they are needed most.

I think it should as when smoking cannibis u are incontrol of urself and wont go jumping of buildings and stuff, and also cannot die directly from it, but it does arguably deplete ur brain but then again tobacco deplets ur body and it is legal...

why the hell should alcohol be legal and ganja not????? I mean, check out what happened when England played in Holland a few years back - NO VIOLENCE, at all, because they were all stoned! Its all a total hypocrosy, fueled by 'do gooders' and medieval beurocrats who associate ganja with hard drugs like cocaine and heroin.

Anyone who thinks that smoking pot should be illegal should consider that coffee in large amounts is probably alot more dangerous than pot (blood pressure and heart attacks). Coffee IS addictive and how many millions of people are addicted to caffeine?

Its just a stigma that needs to be (and is slowly being) erased.

Just going back to the 'they make money by busting people' thing, as it confused me a little, arresting people costs the government money. Taxing people gets them money.

I say make it decriminalised.... ala Brixton.

Who knows, in ten years we might be having a referendum for nationwide decriminalisation!!

It would be nice to walk down the road with a bag of weed in my pocket and not have to suffer the paranoia of being arrested.

Definitely legalise it! I gave up drinkin just over a month ago and i'm back on fags now. But i do like the super ciggarette a lot more if u know wot i mean! <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/wink.gif"> anyway, legalise it, cos alchol can kill you, coffee can kill you, smoking can kill you and dope will just make you smile! mite kill you in the long run, but living will do that anyway! over and out, stoned me.

Since seeign it happen to me I now agree very strongly in the bridge effect (that cannabis leads on to harder drugs). Now if id been ale to buy my hash from the offlicence, i dont think id have ever tried anythign harder. Maybe im fooling my self. You have to start somewhere, right?

It will never be legalised because we live in a 'democratic dictatorship'. Fine, we vote in the government and then everyone seems to just let them get on with it, unlike the French who will most definitely kick up a stink if they dont like something the government does. English apathy prevails throughout this country.

If everyone smoked pot whenever and wherever they please then what can the authorities possibly do. The courts would grind to a standstill. The only time this sort of mass exodus has ocurred was during that ridiculous poll tax introduced by Herr Thatcher.

i dont thin cannabis should b legalised, not that i dont like it!!
just that if it waas 2 b, the govornment would put that much tax on it, like they have done on cigs, people just wouldnt b able 2 afford it!!

I think it should be legalised.
My reasons are:
• Just compare the % of alcohol users who die in car crashes compared to % of marajuana users who die in car crashes...and not to mention kill other people - for marajuana it's not far off from completely sober people. Infact in some cities, it's LOWER! So it's almost like it's safer to drive while caned.
• People tend to be less agressive when they're caned, compared to the lager louts who give england a bad reputation.
• you can't actually get a physical addiction to marajuana - it's only a mental addiction - the same sort of addiction you have for chocolate. Seriously! As opposed to alcohol or tobacco.

Admittedly I haven't given the other side of the story yet. Firstly, smoking marajuana pure is itself harmful for the lungs, in a similar way to smoking cigarettes. Additionally, people tend to smoke it with tobacco which is to some extent physically addictive (and you know how hard people find giving up tobacco)

Well that's my overall point of view, I don't mind people who do/don't smoke it, I've smoked it a few times, been in 1 or 2 heavy sessions, don't smoke these days but don't mind if other poeple do.

I think that it should be totally legalised. The effects of Spliff are not as bad as alchohol. Spliff is only psychologically addictive and causes you to be calm, whereas alchohol can be addictive and gets you angry. How many more deaths are caused by Smoking and Alchohol than Cannabis

that's because:
1. more people drink than they do smoke canna, because it's available in pubs. i daresay if people started going for a smoking session on a friday night instead of the pub, it would increase.
2. that's because canna sedates you in a way, slows down the speed at which synapses go round your body. alchohol speeds them up
3. some would argue a mental addiction is worse than a physical one. the body can be rehabilitated, the mind is usually destroyed.

personally i dont care either way, i don't smoke it and i don't have a problem with others smoking it.

Let's face it-

*it is bad for your health if you smoke it with tobacco or without a filter

*it does affect memory

*it is addictive

But the truth is that because of the number of people who smoke it and the hassle that it is arresting everyone who uses it, it probably will be legalised or decriminalised at some point in the not too distant future.

I just think that there's no need to try and justify making it legal. Yes, alcohol and cigarettes are dangerous drugs, but that doesn't mean that cannabis is any better.

if in doubt-dance.
