Send your CV off to relevant companies asking if you could volunteer for them to gain work experience. Or try Connexions :thumb:

Why would you want to work in a supermarket for free?

    What was your apprenticeship in?

If you want a job in the retail industry just apply. There is reallly no point working for free as it will be around minimum wage anyway. I think a shop would see little point in "hiring" you for a few months even if it was for free.

There are loads of helpful articles about voluntary work in our volunteering section
You will find this article particularly helpful - it lists lots of different organisations that would be a good starting point.
    Good luck
