You dont stray into this den of sin that often. Odd story.

There is a very small patch of opium poppies in a Oxford College garden, has a little sign and everything, quite odd.

i like the idea for the garden, poisonous plants are often amazingly beautiful, nut i'm not sure exactly how it's going to change peoples ideas on drugs....to me it would make them seem much more exseptable...

Twisted Trinity, I get the impression it's an alternative method of drug education, as well as being an interesting concept for a garden.

It says on the Alnwick Gardens website that -
We then hope to develop drug awareness programmes with the Drug Action Team which schools can use as part of their drug awareness programme.

Adults and children will love visiting this garden, and it will also become a natural resource for programmes on health, diet, history, heritage and gardening.

I think it is a fantastic idea, but then I love gardens too....

It will be seen by most as just a druggie garden, which on one level it is, however it could be used to teach greater respect for the plants that cause so much harm in the world.

To show that they dont just turn up as chemicals, that there is a process behind that. And that the plants have more than just one use.

heh heh i may be lowering the tone but how long before some little scrot decides to try and make off with half of the herb garden? (and dont tell me it cant be done, when a 12 year old boy can steal a baby penguin from london zoo :D)

i was thinking the same ...someone will have it away one night thats for sure ...if they get caught ...trespassing at the worst?

what a strange idea ...i fail to understand how it will put anyone off.

What the hell is this about some kid stealing a penguin?!

(off topic) a teacher i knew ages (about 10 years ago) said that when she was doing her teacher training they took this little shit to london zoo, who was just a pain all the time...anyhoo they took him and he was good as gold, didnt say a word all day.

When he got home his mother phoned the school to tell them that there was a small baby penguin in his bedroom. Sure enough they got round there and a penguin they saw....he'd put it in his bag when no-one was looking.

How he did this i havent got a clue but apparently it is so...

Apparently visitors will be 'escorted' round the garden by marshalls
    :yeees:
but not in the dead of night ...a garden has to be pretty easy to plunder.
watch this space ...any bets on the garden being robbed?

Exactly!! They're just asking for it to be raided.

As said above, that place is going to get raided soon enough, they'll probably wait for the plants to get fully grown then smash in in the night.

Stole a baby penguin eh? Classic, penguins are cute as hell. I lvoe them :)
