Brownies

I volunteer at a local brownies group and we are having a newspaper eveing and I'm looking for things that we could do. So far I've come up with cutting the pictures out to make a story and maybe making something out of newspaper. Bearing in mind we only have about an hour and a quarter. Any suggestions would be great!

I did this in my creative writing course:

    1. tear up loads of newspapers
    2. get the kids to pick four pieces of newspaper cuttings
    3. let them take lines from their cuttings and try to make a poem. It doesn't have to make sense, but it will (in some weird way).
    4. It's called the 'found poem.' kids read them out and have a good giggle.

Also, you could make some sort of newspaper collage.

I found it to be quite fun, but it may not be what you're looking for.
