Bluetooth Transfer Rates

I got a USB Bluetooth Dongle but transfer rates are about 5kb/s is this normal ? I thought it would be about 10 times faster at least? Using a Sony Eric. T610 and copying new ringtones, etc to it takes longer then I'd have expected.

I'm sure it's slower then infrared link

    It should be around 700kb/s.

    700kbps?

it really isn't that fast a transmission method at all. I did have a link to a website on it which I had to do for a university project but I would say you are getting speeds that are about right.

Likewise with Placebo, I get 5-6kb/s too. That's using a Nokia 6600 and a Bluetooth dongle.

I think I get a slightly higher transfer rate setting up a virtul serial port, but probabalynot more then 10 k/bs

Surely Bluetooth is supposed to be faster then this?

no it really shouldn't be. It was never designed to be a fast wireless connection. There are other options that are faster. It is purely designed to be a global standard.
