Poached egg

Ok i know this has been done before but i can't find what i want to know.

Ok i have bought a egg poacher saucepan thing with the separate bits you put the eggs in.....but i have forgotten how much water to put in & how long you do them for.

Anyone?

    enough water to boil without drying out ...not enough watrer to come into contact with the eggs.
    have a peep now and again to see how they're doing.
    about 3mins i think. but keep peeping and after a while you'll just know.
    salt and peepr them at the begining ...yum.

    heh i will probably over do them, doing some for James so i gotta make sure they are done well. So won't be adding salt, might after for me tho :).

    I have a microwave egg poacher which is pretty cool. Gotta wrap in in clingfilm and pierce the yolks though as exploded egg is horrible to clean up!

    can do them in boiling water and just lopping an egg into it once its simmering, and stirring the outside of the pan, the circular current forces the heavy egg to the centre ;)

    saves me time finding the equipment so i can cook, and they dont take long to cook anyway so only takes a minute or 2 of swirling at most
