I was close to having a Ipod once, i was allmost ther, but then i realised i spent all the money.
Looking back, if ther wher more ipods in circulation in this world, then they would be easyer to get.
Ipod is a toy of the rich and privilaged, most normal people cant afford one. I think creative is its best chance of compitition.

    why is everyone obsessed with ipods? they're such a fucking rip off IMO and theres plenty of superior alternatives available which cost less and are much more stylish:rolleyes:

    i've only got an Ipod because i won some money outta a fruity.

    tbh the new Ipods are the tits :D but are far to expensive for this market.

    And i still listen to cassettes :( i have tape packs :D

    Yea i had a creative, and for 4 of the 5 days i owned one it froze every night. it was so frustrating.

    ...i keep meaning to lay my hands on an MP3 CD player...i mean, anti-jog cd players dont skip unless you juggle with it, you can keep a shit load of songs on a handful of cd's, and the quality is perfectly ok....oh yeah, the minor fact that it doesnt cost the same as the gross national product of a small european country :p lol

    Why dont i have one then? cuz i keep forgetting!! and i spend all my money on dvd's.

    Wanna tell me about these? I want a decent mp3 player, but I don't fancy an ipod. I kinda guessed that just because it's the most in fashion right now doesn't mean it's the best.

    Reasons for not getting an IPod mini:

    1) Too small
    2) Easily stolen
    3) The nearest rival has 5 times more space, and is £10-15 cheaper.
    4) It comes in pink ¬_¬

    nah mate, ipods are a bit pants to be honest. if you want an alternative, look no further then the creative zen or the philips hdd 120 which is what i have, both are better then the ipod, look sexier and are cheaper to boot. you can't go wrong. the alternative is to go to your local electronics store and say to the people in there that you want a large capacity mp3 player that isn't an ipod and they'll be able to point you in the right direction :yes:

    Go for Sonys new Walkman Harddrive. 20gb, roughly the same price, but its smaller, and its Sony.

    Also the battery shouldn't die on you a month after the guarentees ran out!

    Nah good topic though, ive been considering what to get for quite a while, was tempted to get the U2 Ipod, or a mini ipod, im not too bothered about spending that amount of money on something if its the daddy, but with all the problems about the batteries, and also the concern about poor sound quality on the mini ipods does put me off.

    Hence starting to look at that sexy black philips beast shown above, or sonys effort.

    However, now sony have entered the market i think i might way 3 months till they bring out a new one.

    With so many major companies entering the market now expect prices to start slowly coming down, and smaller sexier ones with an higher storage capacity to start emerging

    thank u everybody, uve all been a great help, i really wana get one of the new colour ipods, but u cant get them in india, im also thinking about trying to buy one of these things in india, but i have to find a place where first, WHERRRRR i ask.

    sprocket: does your hdd work with windows media player? got mine for my 21st a few weeks back and its notorious for crashing becuase it just doesnt get on with WMP, it pisses me off immensely. and whats with the codecs vanishing so i cant play tracks ive just downloaded and played 2 minutes earlier?

    its still fantastic though, glad i didnt get an ipod
