i have in my house right now ...about fifty quids worth of cannabis.
i have smoked this stuff ...despite the law ...for 36 yrs.
should i be punished because it's against the law?
if so ...what kind of punishment do suggest?

luke ...it may well be in my home but ...i'm breaking the law.
please reconsider your judgement based on what you said in the other thread about people who break the law.

Personally I feel if you are walking the streets with it then yes you should be questioned as to why you have that amount on you, because you could be a dealer.

why would i want to buy a tenners worth a week when buying an ounce ...which for afghani black is between 70 and a 100 quid ....works out a lot cheaper and means less trips to the dealer?
True, just supposing you were stopped just after you had bought the stuff what would the police do or what do you 'think' they would do ?
i'd swallow it if it was a hostile cop.
most cops nowadays are cool ...especialy country cops.
especialy as an awful lot of of cops smoke and drop an e at weekends ...and then theres those who like a line of coke etc.
but ...if i was unfortunate enough to actualy end up in court i'd expect a fifty pound fine but ...
for luke and others of his ilk ...don't be afraid ...say what you realy think a guy like me should be subjected to ...for breaking the law.

For you rolly, I couldn't care less that you have cannabis at home. However, if you have cannabis in your system and you are involved in a fatal car crash (heaven forbid) then my attitude changes. That would be allowing your personal choice to consume cannabis to affect others, and you should expect a harsh sentence, probably worse than a drink driver because there is no road side test (yet) and hence no deterrent.
BTW, your avatar is a good enough reason for me not to take drugs
one of the problems with a cannabis test is ...if i smoke 50 pence worth tonight ...wich i have ...it will show on any roadside test for up to six weeks!
i will not be under the influence of it for more than a couple of hours though.
so the law is very dodgy.

by the way ...fifty quids worth in the house is buttons when compared with the cash value of the ammount of alcohol people have in the house ...or tobbaco ...

It's different from alcohol because we have set limits for how much is acceptable. It's impossible to quantify how much cannabis affects driving because it hasn't been investigated. Having said that, I'm sure there is a way of stating how likely it is that cannabis was a contributing factor.
Playing with fire though.
If you were somehow caught in possession you should have it confiscated and be fined enough to cover the police and court time and disposal costs of the dope. How does that sound?

I think its a serious question. Why should drugs be illegal to consume privately. Of course its different if youre affecting somebody else with it but in the privacy of your own home, I cant see a problem.
