You were saying that you could find cheap flights and hotels in January in Dublin, so I'd say go with that. That's the selling point - see another town, and country for that matter, and cellebrate your birthday. I think your closest friends would go for it.

I live in Hull. Crap town, only a couple of decent night clubs and bars, but cheap drinks. It's cold here, and I would reccomend it in January, unless you're like many of the mad young tarts tottering around in next to nothing, short skirts, and strappy heels at this time of the year around here.

Edinburgh or Glasgow. You are guaranteed a good night out in either. Both are lovely cities and both have good night life :)

^^^^^^^ Yes, I'd recommend Glasgow. Haven't been to Edinburgh but heard it's fab too. :) They're cheap, you don't have to change money and they have brill nightlives.

Dublin is great (what can I say?:)) but it's expensive. I go out on a normal night out and spent about €100. And that's not even going mad. The price of drink is outrageous. There are no drink promos or anything - they're illegal. If money is no object, I'd say come here. You'll have a ball.

But I managed to have a shit cool time in Glasgow for under £400. That was for four days.

Maybe I'm just so used to paying through the nose for things, I think £400 is cheap...

leeds is expensive. and, um, big.

there's a night out to suit anyone, but you might get beaten up. specially if the leeds players are out.

good shopping too, if you're there in the daytime.

there are approximately 5,000,000 places to go in leeds. some are wank. in fact lots are wank, but some are fab.

they probably rocked down majestyks with all the 14-year-old girls and 50-year-old married men. ;)

    You should go to Leeds.

Make sure you get off the train at Bramley, though. Thats where all the fun happens.

Manchester is brilliant, most places are cheap, you need to avoid deaansgate locks though because its very expensive. Best place to go to are the wetherspoons pubs, either the one in printworks or moon under water. If you want a rock/indie night head to 5th Ave, its £6 to get in less with NUS, think£2 or £4 but if you go on a friday before 11 Ladies are free, drinks are cheap about £1.50 for a bottle of beer or a vodka and cranberry. If you want a cheesey dancing night either Walkabout or life cafe.
