Until recently I was lead to believe the English were the self-proclaimed masters of irony, and the American's were dumbasses for failing to grasp it. Can someone explain to me why, then, THAT EVERY TIME I MAKE A FUCKING POST, SOME (English) MORON DISREGARDS THEIR GOD GIVEN TALENT IN THE UNDERSTANDING OF IRONY AND TAKES ME SERIOUSLY!?

It's worse when they try and be ironic themselves, and defy underlying nationalistic genetics by just failing spectacularly.

It's like standing in the supermarket watching a special child try and get something off the top shelf - you actually feel embarrased for them.

The problem with irony and sarcasm is that they don't work that well on the internet. This is possibly because so many readers are utterly stupid.

I wasn't talking about the British though, I was talking about the English. Seeing as how the guy who invented radar was Scottish, the pronoun 'we', which served to seperate you (the English) from us (the Scottish), didn't belong in the sentence.

Its funny but no scots Iv met not even my own family seem to find it ironic when they go on about the oppersion of the english.

What they fail to find ironic is that the scotts have inflicte much more oppersion round the world as part of the british empire and as imigrants who killed and enslaved natives in various countries, not to mention thats scotts imigrants basicaly founded the KKK,

I always get chaos_insomniac and Sa-ra-ra-ra's ones mixed up now though 'cause I usually work out who made a post by looking at the avatar outta the corner of my eye while I'm reading the post, and they look pretty similar colour/shape wise.

I wasn't trying to turn this into a Scotland -vs- England thing, as seeing as I am not representive of Scotland your point is invalid as I wasn't saying all English people fail to grasp irony, just that the ones who have failed to grasp it are English.

Seeing as some of the people that do understand it on here are English (Kermit, Mist, Kaffrin etc.), I don't know how anyone could have thought that.

Thats only partialy true you specified english people who failed to get sarcasm, there are scots on this board Im sure some of them fail to get it as well.
