aye, i know it's a load of bollocks- but i know that this is a superstition and that there is an actual reason for it... like walking under a ladder breaks the triangle which was considered detrimental in roman times... i jus can't remember this one, and google, ask jeeves etc aren't helping!

Do you have the one with the toothpicks there? If 2 bad things happen in one day, they say you should break 3 toothpicks to avoid a 3rd happening...

I think the three drains... as well as walking under a ladder is to do with the Trinity.

ugh, a few people i've met in uni have drummed it into my head that stepping on three drains is bad luck. Of course, i let them know that it was bullshit, but i keep catching myself walking round drains when theyre in groups of three :/

My friends used to say that if you walked over three drains you had to spit and say your name, otherwise it was bad luck.

Very embarrassing when out in town.....

You didnt spit in public did you? Thats pretty much the most anti-social thing you can do, bar assaulting someone.

i never heard about the whole drain thing til at uni.

had to be alert when in town with one of my house mates as she was liable to jump into your path at any given time to avoid drain covers in groups of 3 or pigeons (bird phobia).

I have my own little weird superstition a good luck one.

If a wild animal of prey looks you in the eye its good luck

I have no reason for this just whan its happened with a hawk, falcon or fox, it gives me a little buzz and I feel its good luck.

How often do birds of prey look you in the eye, are you a field mouse?

well its mainly been foxes but my gran parents were farmers so I have spend quite a lot of time in the countryside, a lot of Birds sit on a branch waiting for a tasty morsel to appear so If you walk aroung the woods and you keep your eyes open you will probably see one, and if they see you they will look straight at you.
Some otherbirds hover very high looking for food then they might look at you whilst their eating.
