Bleeding gums

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
For the past week, brushing my teeth has caused my gums to start bleeding. They're now too sore for me to brush properly (I have to be very light with the toothbrush). They also hurt when I ate a piece of fruit this morning. I can see 4 tiny little nicks on my gums - top and bottom - where the bleeding occurs. What could be the problem here? The only thing I can think of is Gingivitis, but I'm not even sure what that is, other than the fact that it involves bleeding gums! Can anyone help?

My mates Dad is the dentist, but try using mouthwash for a few days and see if your gums start to heal.

Have they gone a dark red and has the colour of your teeth started to change?

As far as I can tell, there's been no change in the colour of my teeth and gums - what does it mean if there is? I'll buy some mouthwash tomorrow and then see if the situation improves. Thanks for your help!

i have big problems with bleeding gums! a few months ago they got really bad, they'd bleed really often. went to the dentist he told me to buy an electric toothbrush, start flossing every day and get a special mouthwash for bleeding gums/mouth infections which you can buy from chemists. the one he recommended was called Oraldene. they've gradually got better but still bleed when i floss and brush my teeth. you should go to the dentist if they're bad, although flossing should help sort them out.

You should go to a dentist that way they can take care of your teeth.Teeth are important to take care of and think about the people that are going to kiss you you don't want bleeding gums when your kissing.
