For the past few months, since about November, every so often I go really light headed and sometimes a bit dizzy. I thought it might have something to do with my periods at first, but it is all the time. Don't wanna see a doctor about it so any ideas?

Sounds a bit like Anaemia,to me cos the symptoms of that are dizziness and light headedness. Theres a page about anaemia on The Site, so read that and see if your symptoms sound like it. I know you dont want to go to the doctor but I would if I were you. I had anaemia and had the same symptoms as you, I didnt go to the doctors for months and I really regretted it cos the anaemia got really bad.Take vitamins and iron tablets every day, and if you dont feel any different after 3 weeks, then definetly go to the doctor. Good luck, hope you feel better soon.

Here's the link: http://www.thesite.org/info/health/general_health/anaemia.html

And I don't think that taking iron prophylatically is necessarily wise. Iron tablets are fine if you are anaemic, but that may not be the cause of your dizziness. Iron overdose is not a good idea.

Do you eat regualar meals? Or skip breakfast/lunch if you are in a rush?
It is probably best to get your iron from leafy veg and red meat rather than supplements. Make sure you do eat properly.

And if you are worried about it, see your GP

I am anaemic as well and this sounds very familiar... best thing I can say is go to your doctor as soon as possible.
I also ignored the problem for a long time thinking I was just tired or hungry or something when I would get spacey but after I passed out from it my friends made me promise to go.
All that you'll do when you get there is describe the problem and they'll probably take some blood. If the blood samples show that you are anaemic they will prescribe you iron tablets. (Personally I take 3 a day which is a pain).
But you have to go to the doctor because it is dangerous to take more than the recommended amount of iron. If you want to try self treatment for a while eat foods with lots of iron and take ONE multivitamin a day.
Hope you feel better!

If you take Iron with Vitamin C, the Vit C will help with the absorbtion of Iron - but my doc said you have to take Iron for at least 3 months for it to stay in the system and work properly
