Metal Gear Solid 2

Hi,
just got through MGS2: Substance on the PC.
It took me about 13 hours to get through the 2 episodes and now I'm just startled and overwhelmed on what I just saw in the last hour (the longest ending cinematic ever).

so does anyone exactly know what was going on with that GW AI and it's connection to the S3 programme?

the rest I think I understood but the whole S3 thing before killing Solidus Snake on the roof of the City Hall got me confused.

still it's one of the greatest games I ever played!
so anyone with a playstation 2 or a PC with a decent gamepad & DVD drive pick it up!

wow... guess I just have to sleep over it once to fully grasp what happened ;)

i tried to follow it, right up to the cut scene with liquid, solid and solidus (just before you have to destroy the metal gear prototypes).

after that my brain started to bleed.

nobody understands the storyline, its not important in the grand scheme of things.

    (possible spoiler ahead)

well, that might be true, but I thought since the death of the Patriots leaders it might have been this AI that ruled the earth in their name.
so maybe that's important for MGS3?

I bought it in Germany (along with PES3, Casino and some other crappy Konami game I've never heard of for 25 Euros, which I was very pleased about), but I thought I'd manage with a keyboard, like I have with PES3, but am I wrong?

    Hi,
I've tried PES 3 with the keyboard as well, but believe me, you won't stand a chance against a player with a gamepad!
and for MGS 2 it's pretty much the same, you need so many buttons that on a keyboard you won't have enough fingers for(since you already "waste" at elast 3 figners for moving the character whereas on a gamepad you'd only need your left thumb)

anyways, I've checked throughout the net for good PC gamepads and found the Thrustmaster FireStorm Dual Power gamepad (and bought it extremely cheap from this ebay-store)

it has 2 buttons more than a PS2 controller, force feedback, 2 analogue sticks and just outstanding ergonomics (lies in your hands perfectly).

it's really worth getting since you can also play many PC games with it way better than with the keyboard (e.g. Madden NFL(!), racing games, etc.)

difficult one this, but I think at the moment we're putting games in comp and the net.

as to metal gear, I hate cut scenes, so you can imagine what I thought of the game.

Who the fuck dislikes cut scenes?

Okay, here's somethin' for you to think about. Know how at the end where you see Jack And Rose standing. Did you notice how not one person looks at them? The theory is, maybe they're still in some kind of metal Gear or some shit.

Is the substance ending different to the ending of Metal Gear Solid 2?

Oh, and if you have a gamecube I cannot advise you enough to buy Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes. It is definitely the best MGS game out... ever. The cut scenes are intense.... and kinda matrixx like, with the way Solid snake jumps about n all. It absolutely rocks. :D

Got to agree with that - f'n awesome!!!

It's been so long since I played MGS2 (sold my PS2 ages ago) that I can't actually remember what they said.

yeah, that dazzled me as well... but maybe ithere's just so much uproar about the city hall being wrecked that nobody cares (maybe they think Snake & Raiden are from a security force or something  )

no, the game just features tons of bonus stuff like all the VR missions & snake tales that you had to buy extra for the "MGS2: Sons of Liberty" version of the PS2.

what I also find interesting is that Rose and Raiden still love each other... I mean right at the end whilst and before beating Solidus, Rose doesn't seem too nice... plus she spied on raiden(who cares if she fell in love with him?!) ...but maybe Raiden is just too confused on what to believe and who to trust...

but isn't that the remake of the original MGS game for the PS One ?

I got a major headache because it was so confusing, quite a while back now I completed it on the xbox :chin: I think the AI controlled everything though didn't it? And Raiden was being tested by it, or something???

yeah, because they needed the data of a human that blames everybody but him for his mistakes (or something like that).
    but why?
so they can censor the internet with this knowledge?
    and what's gonna happen now?

Yes, it is a remake. But, it's the best remake I ever... EVER played. It is totally worth buying. It's even better than the Resident Evil remake...and I LOVE Resident Evil
