Best Place to Spend A Few Days in The UK?

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Have relatives over from abroad, initally they thought they'd go to France or Switerland whilst here as they are from Kenya. But turns out they need Visas and it's probabaly too late to get them now.

So suggested they go to some place in the UK like Scotland or Newquay.

We're in London at the moment so perhaps even planning a whole 3 to 4 day trip with interesting stop overs.

Anyone got any suggestions? Alway wanted to see Lochness and Cornwall and now seems as good a time as any to go.

The eden project is a great place to go if that's your thing. Also you could go to somewhere like north wales or scotland for the scenery alone.

Best place to stay in the UK? ...In bed! :D

As you're down in the South, what about a trip to a seaside town on the South coast, so they can see what that looks like. Or Swindon, so they can see what a modern British concrete jungle looks like and make them drive through roundabout hell (like the magic roundabouts!!!). :nervous:
Bath, that's just a blast down the M4 too. Architecture, history, Romans, etc. Nice place to visit.

You could look here for some ideas.

It very much depends what kind of things you want to do.

Salisbury is nice, so are some of the places round here - Stratford upon Avon, Leamington, Warwick, Kenilworth etc.

Durham City and the Northumberland Coast.

Everything is here- great art galleries, wonderful scenery, beautiful old cathedral city, nuclear power stations...

The Symposium pub in Idle Village, in fact.

That, or the world-famous Working Mens' Club in the same village.

Hahahaha come here to Glasgow for the culture

We do have quite a few nice places and things here. If they like Rennie McKintosh there's a church right across from my house that he designed/built (I think he built it, but I'm not sure)

Scotland's only national park- The Trossachs, is beautiful. Well I like it. Cambridge is nice also, and not at all far from london.

Isn't it delightful to see so many"The place I live is the best!!!!!" posts  :p

Rather more objectively, you could just head up to Inverness, and take in as many different places as you can on the way up.

    Like Wales, Newcastle. Edinburgh etc.

If I ever wanted to go somewhere really falt and boring, I'd go to Norfolk. It's better at it.

Lincolnshire is full of 'tards who surf on trains
