Congatulations! You must be so happy!
You surely have said this before, and at least once in a topic I've read, but what degree was that again?

Nice topic. No, I mean it.

I had a test today, and I was quite creative too, as I couldn't find any other way to answer. It depends on the teacher if I'll get 10/10 or 2/10.

take an english degree. remove the grammar. change the literature and theory to concentrate on the writer rather than the reader. add a whole load of creative projects. intersperse with journalism, scriptwriting, poetry, visual media and envirnomental analysis as required.

    write lots (like really, lots).

    graduate.

you don't need any specific subjects. i got AABCD at A Level, although i think you only have to get CCC to get on the course, and show evidence of interest and ability in writing. most people did have an english A level though. apart from me.

bloody hard work though. it's nothing at all like writing essays. i can knock out a pretty good 2000 word essay in about an hour and a half, but with creative pieces you are being assessed on every single word. in the third year we had to produce something stupid like 50,000 words. which is a lot. and i'm bloody glad it's over, tbh.

hopefully, i'll be training to be a teacher.

    *crosses fingers*

(you were expecting me to say something swanky like scriptwriter or novelist, weren't you :p)

    yeah, i know.

but i figure that being spitballed to death or driven to nervous breakdown beats dying slowly of papercuts and boredom in some shitty office job.

teaching may be ego-destroying, but it's much less soul-destroying than trying to con people out of every penny they earn.

    tis true. tis true.

although after seeing my old geography teacher be punched in the face on her birthday by a school kid i never wanted to be a teacher since.

yeah, but i've been punched in the face before and i'm still here.

but if i have to spend one more hour of my life in a call centre i'll probably top myself.

different strokes for different folks, i guess. plus someone's gotta do it. some of the usage of english on here makes me cringe... :p
