What do you get if you cross a lion and a tiger?

40_liger.jpg

Ligers are around 8 foot long... imagine how much whiskers it goes through....

:eek2:

Not really my idea of a housecat.

It used to be a big thing in the 70s (wasn't everything?) in the UK to keep big cats as pets, but in 1976 the Dangerous Animals Act was passed, so these pets had to be licensed. As a consequence, a lot were released into the wild, hence why the British countryside is full of "Beast of Bodmin" folklore.

It looks slightly out of proporsion.. its back legs and tail seem small in comparrison to its middle/top half...

Is that one a female one? What do the male ones look like?

Talking of that Really Wild Show, did you see that poor cat which had short legs because it wasnt fed properly?!

That was really sad, he was so stumpy.

Yes, lions and tigers can interbreed. The result animal is different depending on what was the father and what the mother. I think a Liger has a lion father, but I can't remember what the other animal is called. Maybe Tion?

Its not a kitty... and would you really want to sleep in bed with that brute on the rug next to you? [don't answer that]

And the odd thing about ligers is that they can't reproduce...

Because they're not a real species. Mules can't either.
