We used to swim in a quarry, naughty. I can be dangerous to swim in the midde cuz its so deep and can get very cold. The one we were at the owner told us someone swum into the middle and couldnt swim, it was too deep and then he froze very quickly. We think that was to scare us though

Possibly, but that would be manslaughter and *we* would be in the wrong, not the stupid people. Who'd credit it?

They are usually very silty water. The top foot or so of water can feel very warm because the sun has been shining on the silty surface layer which is more turbulant, but below that the water is very cold as the silt blocks the light from the sun.

    Pike live in quarries.

Nasty fish, could get one of your fingers off if they wanted to... or a more sensitive appendage...

No, I wanted to kno if there were any dangers of swimming in quarries that i was unaware of
If you are dumb enough to not understand the dangers of swimming in quarries, then I suggest that you go and swim in one. Lots.
or, i could try and find out the dangers of swimming in them before doing it unlike tens of thousands of people my age every day. Were you born fully educated of the potential hazards that quarries hold, or did you learn when someone has told you? no1 has ever told me. I suggest you stop being such a fucking retard and post a witty reply as soon as you can.
maybe this is the city girl inside of me, but what's wrong with your local swimming pool?
nothing, if you want to swim in the (not-so-)local, indoor swimming pool

    Thanks for the helpful replies.

so uh... whats a quarrie? I've tried that whole "look at the words around it and try to figure it out" thing but that just makes me think a quarrie is a toxic landfill...

I believe it is a gigantic fawk-off pit in the ground where rock and clay is dug up. During the summer it is filled with water to soften the bottom, and maybe it is quarried in the winter. I could be wrong though.

I think you're being a little hard on the uneducated noob. PLEASE DONT FLAME ME :'''(

Quarries are places where stone is dig out of the ground; the holes often form lakes afterwards, for whatever reason.

And you shouldn't swim in one because the water is not safe- not very far under the water there are reeds, rocks and other sunken obstacles, which will pull you under very quickly; there is the cold issue; the currents often found below the surface of quarry pools are very dangerous.

It's sodding obvious what the dangers are, innit?
