I was talking to Al about this earlier and he said that if I wanted perspectives I ought to post it..... so I am doing because as we all know Al is never wrong <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/tongue.gif"&gt;

So:
- There's a guy and a girl, and a lot of the time they just act like best mates.
- However, sometimes when they go off to be alone he's holding her hand.
- But even though it's just the two of them in a dark corner late on into a party, they're just talking, the most sexual thing happening is linking arms.
- And this has been going on for about a year.

What do you honestly think - are they just good friends? Or is there something else between them?

Oh and please don't anyone try to read anything into this post, just think of it as a hypothetical situation!

I think they're just best friends.

I do everything you've mentioned with my best friend(who's a girl) all the time. It's just because we care alot about each other, but not in a sexual way.

Yeah i agree if there was anything else between them could they really have kept in hidden for so long?
THey're probably just really good mates.

a while ago me and a good m8 of mine (male) were like that. he was totally in love with my other friend, and we did a lot of stuff like going out together with just the three of us. but like when shed gone home and we were walking back, we held hands.. and one time we were outside talking andn stuff and it was freezing, and we were hugging loads and he had his arm round me when we were sitting down, stuff like that. there was never anthing more than friendship there though, he was obsessed with my other friend, ok id just broken up with my bf and it kinda confused me for a little bit and made me think maybe i had feelings for him. but i didnt really, i just loved him as a friend and that was all there was ever gonna be, whether my other friend was in the pic or not.

so i think they could be just best friends wildchild.

I reckon could be both all depends on the people really, i kiss my best mate on the lips, hug, link, hold hands, loads of touchy feely stuff but no sexual stuff as in fancying each other, but with some people their could be, and they can like each other but dont wanna admit it cos they are friends and dont wanna spoil it or mayb because theyre not sure whether the other person feels the same way or they are just acting that way in a friendly way.

but wild, how do we not know if when they are alone, they aren't talk about sex or tearing into each other behind closed doors?

sometimes people tend to be more discreet than others. while all this seems innocent, can u really ever know unless they tell u?

i mean if they're ALWAYS around each other, and they do go off alone, it's not out of the realm of possibility that they are as alanis sings "best friends with benefits."

that said... i'm with everyone here in that i have a few mates that are the huggy and hand holding type and it's never intended to be anything more than a symbol of warmth and friendship. so it's also not hard to believe they could also be just best friends.

i guess i'm saying.. if you want to know, ask one of them. <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/tongue.gif"&gt; otherwise, you'll just have to guess based on what you know about the two of them. just don't be shocked if it isn't what you think though.

i apologise for my post last night, i think emma best explained it.

but its also a touchy point with me, cos this girl i happen to be, um..very fond of...does exactly that with a mate of mine, and sorta does it with me as well. but i know i can't have her, so i'm resigned to sorta i guess flirting with her (even tho i know i ain't gonna get anywhere). it's a sore point for me, even if i ain't making any sense.
