Hey...this is a bit dark but does anybody know anyone with Hemophilia?

My mum just text me (she uses txt spk lol!) telling me that she has been diagnosed with 'von Willebrand's Syndrome'...which for those that dont know (like I didnt) is similar to Hemophilia...but a billion times more rare, and totally weird.

ANYWAY...

Heh, I'm not a doctor but if it's similar to haemophilia is there a tendency for the blood not to clot properly??

Don't know if this help, but these are some effects:

    Increased or easy bruising
    Recurrent epistaxis
    Menorrhagia
Postoperative bleeding (particularly after tonsillectomy or dental extractions)
Family history of a bleeding diathesis

Perhaps you should arrange an appointment to see a GP or specialist together to have a talk through what this means and how it will affect your family. The best thing you can do right now is learn as much as you can about this condition and all support each other through this time.
    Take care

    thanks guys.

Thanks for the symptoms JsT! shit...that would explain a lot about some of my mum's previous health issues...

So...now I have to arrange to take a test to see if its genetic...

I think im being a little dramatic, its not as if its particularly life threatening...

    Thanks again!
