Serious praise has to go to After Forever, Nightwish, Lullacry, AFI and Alkaline Trio. They are the only modern bands I know of to come up with their own serious sound. Please correct me if I am wrong. All the modern "punk rock" bands sound ridiculously similar to Nirvana these days!

uhh... Yeah... I'd say you're pretty wrong. Who are you referring to as 'modern punk' bands?

Pulp! I re-discovered Different Class the other day. Thats an excellent album.

I saw Elbow supporting Muse 2 weeks ago-they were fantastic! Ive never really heard their stuff before, but they blew me away-went out the next day and bought their newest album.

Try and find their cover of "Independent Women", its a classic. Part of it is on rathergood.com, or it was anyway.

Two years agho Id ahve agreed with you, but theyre quite big now, certainly in the underground. All the wannabe-Avrils wear RBF hoodies.

And alas theyre about as good as Avril now:(

He did that song "Susan's House" that was pretty popular nearly 10 years ago I think. But since then his stuff hasn't been as commercial.

They don't get on the radio any more (haven't done for about 5 years I don't think) but they are well-known and have a big fanbase.
