Insomnia

Hi,

I have been finding it really difficult to get a good nights sleep recently. Im in my third year at university living in the same house as I did last year during term time. My room is on the ground floor and is much brighter at night than at home, but I slept ok last year. I wake at the slightest sound in the night, often heart is beating faster and I wake in the morning with a dry mouth, still feeling exhausted. Have tried every remedy I can find, herbal tablets, warm milk, reading, relaxation, no caffeine, even a bit of yoga but still it continues... I dont want to start taking medication, Id like to find a natural cure!

Please help...

Try reading our features on sleeping:
    Insomnia
    Sleeping disorders

The following sites may also help:

    http://www.bettersleep.org/

    http://www.sleepcouncil.org.uk/

And to reiterate what's already been said, do seek help from your GP - be sure to tell them how you feel about medication and they may be able to point you down a more natural route.

    Good luck :)
