Actually the issues around problem alcohol use are fairly similar to the ones around problem drug use, although drugs obviously have the added complication of being illegal. But the issues that people deal with in overcoming their problems can be similar.
Fair play to big issue sellers though, that should be a step to getting off the streets, but it isn't, I've seen the same guy in Kingston for years.
so thats 3/4 of them who can't realy be accused of being bad or useless people. they are fellow humans who need our compassion.
i reckon theres a good bal;ance here between direct givers and charity givers. both sets are needed.
