Keep drinking lots of water, it 'flushes' it out of your system. Or cranberry juice if you have any. And no alcohol or anything fizzy!

Bicarbonate of soda is meant to be good but i doubt you have any around?

Other than that, like faith said lots of water.

There's something in the cranberry juice that helps get rid of it and lots of water just flushes it out of your system. I don't think milk will help either way. But yes, cranberry juice is horrible!

    taken from Nhs website...

You may have a bladder (water) infection (cystitis). Drink plenty of fluids and take paracetamol. If there is no improvement after two days, call NHS Direct.

General self-care advice: Avoid sexual intercourse until the problem is sorted out.
Increase how much you drink to at least eight glasses of fluid a day. Juices such as barley water and cranberry may help.
Over-the-counter medicines from your pharmacist may also help. They will be able to advise you.
Avoid using soap for bathing as this can cause irritation. Take showers if possible.
Keep an eye on the area around the vagina for signs of soreness in which case call NHS Direct.
If new symptoms develop or if your condition worsens, call NHS Direct.
If you are still worried, call NHS Direct.

    Also says...

    Self care
Drink slightly acid drinks such as cranberry juice, lemon squash or pure orange juice.
Try a mixture of potassium citrate, which you can get from your pharmacist.
Sex can cause cystitis in women. Urinating after sex can help to flush out any bacteria that may have entered the urethra

I think Barley water is supposed to be good for cystitis, whatever you drink though, make sure you drink lots of it to dilute your wee-wee to the max. try weeing in the bath so it doesnt sting when u go, or in a bidet.

I was always given/drank a lot of cranberry juice, but I think, many of the things, that people have posted before me, are a good thing. Try anything, that may help ease the pain and help get rid of it.

if you don't like straight cranberry juice, try cranberry and orange, or raspberry. they're nicer, but they're still as effective.
