The only advantage I see with with plastic ones is they're better for doing lines on!

    Mine are mostly knackered :(

But that's because I punched my cd-rack, and they all flew out.

They all reside as about 10 gig of MP3 on the computer, now. Much easier :D

if you could get a vinyl player for your car... mmmm that would be lush, like a cd player in your car where it slots in.

the player would be massive but it would be well better!!

i don't actually have a cd case in one piece. there made to be broken, and thats if you havn't snapped the cd trying to get it out.

Vinyl players were once made for cars, but not since the 50's or 50's, and they weren't very good quality, and didn't play that well. I've seen a few fitted to cars at classic car shows.
Yes, they were massive, but then dashboards used to be simple, and have plenty of space underneath.
No, I don't think it would be better.

If you're breaking CD's, and cases, while trying to get the damn things out then look carefully at the case design. Do you see on the top and bottom edge of the front part of the case, there are a couple of semicircular areas. Grip the case there and pull, and the case opens easily. As for getting the CD's out, press the multi-fingered bit in the middle that grips the CD, and hey presto, the CD comes out with no problem at all.
Easy when you know how, eh? :)

I also think that CD cases are crappy. But not as bad as DVD cases - I mean, what were they thinking when they designed a case that's almost twice the size of a CD case to hold something the size of a CD? And it's harder to get the disc out!

if you have the oportunity to try a peice of music you like and know well ...play them on cd ...then on vinyl ...you should be hit instantly with the amazing clarity of the vinyl ...all to do with mid range sounds i believe.

I think old blues stuff sounds better on vinyl. It *is* a bit smoother in some respects.

But CD's always seem a bit crisper, not sharp or grating, just crisper.

Isn't that "fucking idiot?" :D Or are you just joking again? :D

On the whole vinyl vs CD debate, I don't have a particularly musical ear, and to me CD's sound no different, but are better in the long run as they don't accumulate scratches, etc, that degrades the sound over time. I just think it's old fuddy duddys that think vinyl is still better. :p

You know what I mean, they don't pop and crackle because of scratches. They scratch allright, but 99% of the time they still play without any problems whatsoever.
And anyway, I look after my CD's so they don't get scratched.
