MOBO Awards... how about MOWO awards? or MOAO Awards??

Don't you find it disgusting, that in this day and age, when we are all supposed to see each other as equals, members of the music community are creating a rift with these awards? The same as in the states there is a channel called Black All Stars, where only television shows with coloured actors are shown, even the adverts are remade with purely members of the black community.
So why arent there awards for Musicians of White Origin? or a White All Stars TV station, where only white people are shown.. I'll tell you why, because if there was, there would be a freaking uproar about discrimination and how white people are fucking racist by having such shows etc.... IT PISSES ME OFF!!!!!
RANT OVER!
editted to say i meant Music of Asian origin by MOAO in the topic!

I also think that in entertainment it seems quite alright for black comedians to make racist jokes but if a white comedian reversed the jokes he would be slated for it.
I know many people argue that the MOBO awards honour music that actually is of an ethnic origin such as R&B and soul music, which is traditionally the music of "black" people, but in this day and age there are many many white artists who perform traditionally "black" music (rap, ska, R&B)
they aren't? where i live they are.
i think it's wrong. i'm all for people being equal, personally. and equality means that any racism, whether it's directed at black people, asian people OR white people, is wrong.
Also, why should minority groups be targeted? Until people learn to look past "differences" in skin colour then it will always be a barrier to integration and acceptance.
94% of the population is Caucasian. Fact.
the population of???
not the world.
not my area.
 its not
Men only clubs are illegal in this country.... working men's clubs now have to accept women by law. So why should their be organisations based on race?

The black people of the world would kick off and start an outcry if we had our own 'White Awards'!!! Jesus Christ :@ The fact that it's of 'Black Origin' is bad enough, it's still stating the difference between us all... which is what most black people hate. Contradiction, people?!
There are areas near me where it seriously is like 'Spot The White Person' so I know exactly what Kaffrin means.
Look at Sister Sister! and bloody Kenan and Kel, daft American programmes like that that seem to only have black people in them, bar the odd 'token white one'. If we had a show without some black people in, there'd be an outcry. Now, like Eul Grepus said, in a world where people fight to be equal, this is wrong.
*edited because I can't spell today lol
which means it's 12 years out of date.
read this
Edit: I know what I wrote above totally contradicts itself, hehe!
Jesus christ... did I actually make a valid point??? People arguing on my side.... *is well chuffed
That's to do with talent, obviously.
Let me guess actually... you're black? God, that sounds so nasty... it isn't meant that way, but put yourself in a white persons shoes and then you'll understand why we're pissed off.
And before you say, I've tried to look at this perspective from a black persons point of view, and I still don't see any reasons for it all.
Tell you what everyone, I'm going to set up a TV channel, and not one black person shall be shown on it. What do you all think, eh?!
thats the original point i tried to make... you wouldnt stand a chance against all the groups that would attack you
That's to do with discrimination. There are plently of documentaries about it. Maybe you could check them out when they are on. There was one on C4 a few weeks ago.
And why struggle to work at Fox, when there is BET who would accept you openly if you have talent. And yes, white people work at BET.
And yes I am black.
And would you mind if they changed the name of the MOBOs to something else, and only nominated black acts?
Go to RSA. Im pretty sure there is a white channel, but dont quote me on it. What is your problem with minorities having their own channels? Would you protest to a welsh speaking channel? Or a gay channel? Hopefully not, so why a black one?
I think you have the whole thing backwards.
You say there are plently of black people on screen .. well count them and you'll find there isn't that many people on the big screen that are black - you'll see the same actors over and over again in hollywood movies.
Someone like Samuel L Jackson has done over 80 movies - that's a huge amount compared to most actors. - although most of those were small parts.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000168/
Infront of the screen it's about the kind of scripts that get written and the amount of money a studio is going to risk making a film.
Behind the scenes it's totally up to the individual to get themselves there - most of the famous people behind the scenes in Hollywood started with nothing but a passion for films.
For instance if you want to write a great Hollywood script it doesn't matter one bit what race you are - look at the guy that wrote the 6th Sense, Unbreakable and Signs - his family is originally from India and behind the scenes he can do as well or badly as anyone ... but infront of the camera I'm sure his chances are limited - although in his case mainly cos the guy can't act!!!
I think what you are saying is that minorities are probabaly less likely to be introduced to the whole film making world in the first place. But it's a very closed club that people have to fight their way to get to the top - along with a lot of luck.
If you watch the Biography channel you see the life stories of many famous actors and most of them got a lucky break at somepoint. I'm assuming that what things like the MOBO's tries to do is give a lucky break to some - in order to get them recognised..
there is a welsh speaking channel. which is an entirely different issue. it's for the people who have difficulty understanding english.
a gay channel, i don't know i don't think i would be opposed to it, cause it's more a lifestyle.
if there was an entirely white channel, i would be opposed to it.
The point of the metter is, there's more problems with discrimination and stuff between black and white people. It works both ways as well, not just white on black, or black on white.
Don't mention the Welsh, or Gay people, because that's not what the arugument is about, is it? The argument is about white and black people.
The reason I don't watch documentaries is for the very reason that they wind me up NO END - and I'd have probably started off a thread like this.
I haven't got a problem with black people, I jsut think that if we're all going to get angry about discrimination then we should all treat each other with the same respect. That's generally what most people think too.
Aaaaaand I've babbled enough now, it probably makes no sense, so I'm goin' to leave Eul Grepus, BumbleBee, Kaffrin and co to fight our argument while I get some lunch
EXACTLY!!!
*applause*
There shouldn't be such a thing as black culture if people want full equlity. Fair enough, people can acknowledge their roots, but you must understand that if it were the other way around there would be total outrage, surely you see that?
That is what I meant. Isnt it better the way it is?
