Bog standard-

What do you have?
Price?

Any recommendations?
I don't want anything hugely fancy - I'm on XP, Connection wise it'd be USB 2.0 or firewire if I can be bothered to buy a thingy and fiddle about. I'm not paying extra for cables etc.

Are iPods really that fabulous?

And no, I don't care about your minidisc.

I'd say for £35 this is worth a look and it will play VCD's too

If it's a jukebox you're after, then there's the Creative Jukebox (cheaper than the ipod), and the Archos Jukebox (lots of accessories & features), to consider too.

As for small pocket MP3 Players (the ones with just a memory chip), just search all the major computer component suppliers, and have a look around local computer shops, to see what they've got.

The player DG suggested is a cheap way of playing them, but doesn't sound quite what you're looking for.

I've got a Treo 15Gb Jukebox and that cost about £150 - £160 ish off amazon from memory.

Pretty durable though the screens are prone to fault on them but all you do is switch em off and back on and they sort themselves out, connection wise it is only USB 1 but they much cheaper than Creative Lab ones.

If you want a large capacity of storage space for songs then get the creative jukebox zen, if not the jukebox 2/3 is totally adequate and reasonably priced. :)

check amazon.co.uk they have some good deals on stuff like this sometimes.

This is the one I have
    http://www.shop4memory.com/products/mp3-player.asp
    about £100 - 256MB -
Cheap, holds about 4 hours of music and it's quite small.
Some other brands charge £100 for only 128MB
It's great also to use as a usb travel hard disk, it has no display screen but I don't need that.
