Who are your favourite male and female singers and for what reasons?

Mine are...

Skin (formerly of Skunk Anansie) because her voice is so powerful and angry, but still tuneful.

And for the male one it's Jeff Buckley because his voice is so soulful, but he can still belt it out in the same song. :D

I think the bloke from Linkin Park has a lovely voice, but I don't like the band, does this count? Hmmm

    :chin:

I couldn't possibly say, there are so many great rock vocalists.

I don't like female singers at all.

Female would be...erm....Aretha Franklin or Toni Braxton ( even though she sounds a bit like a man)

Male would be...*thinks for 30 seconds* dunno. Dont listen to much male music at the moment apart from hip hop . Louis Armstrong perhaps :eek2:

Nice choices apart from Elton John.
And I like to call Norah Jones' tracks, much to the dismay of the other 59,999,999 people in this country, tuneful breathing.

don't get me wrong, he's a genius - i've seen him twice in concert and am a big fan - but vocalist? the man cannot sing to save his life. nearly every song of his that's been covered by someone else has been done better.

yea my rents saw him live recently and said it was pretty bad...

anyways, i love his voice, dont know why, just do:)

Male = Chris Cornell or Cheno Moreno (sp?) and (having only just listened to Dirt) Layne Staley, and (cause I forgot him yesterday) Justin Hawkins, he has such an amazing voice, he gets so high considering his speaking voice is relatively low.

Female = um. I dunno. Probably Brody Armstrong (I saw a t-shirt in a townie shop the other day with her on it, and it was for 7 year olds, I didn't understand that! They wouldn't know who it was!)

Tim, good choice. Skin has been my favourite vocalist for years. I get chills down my spine when she hit specific notes in some songs.
