I’ve got an event this Wednesday coming up for a retail placement with other young jobseekers. It’s a one-month unpaid placement in a store that offers real work experience with support, possibly including a mentor, and could lead to a paid job if it goes well. There are limited spots, around 15, with about 20 to 30 people expected to turn up, so it’s competitive and not everyone will be selected. I’ve kept this as a backup while applying elsewhere, but after being out of work for so long, I’m feeling exhausted. The job market is tough, and this opportunity suits me well. I had a similar chance back in September through the same organisation, but I didn’t get selected due to short interview answers. Since then, there hasn’t been anything suitable, and another potential backup option I had is no longer available.
I’ve been volunteering since the start of the year, but now I really want to move forward. I just want to be where I feel like I should be in life now, working and saving and moving forward. This placement feels like the right step, even though I’m trying not to rely too much on it. I’m doing my best to stay positive and plan to give it everything: turn up on time, be enthusiastic, research the company, give more detailed answers in the interview, and do my best in the tasks. It’s a good opportunity and could open more doors, even if I don’t get selected. The organisation might be able to help with other chances in the future, but for now, I’ll focus on making the most of this one and keep backup plans in mind just in case. Wish me luck please, thanks so much for people's support on the groups too where I covered about this.

@Sian321 thanks you. I'll probably just try not to think too much of it, prepare for it, do research and all of that to feel better. Just try to relax though.
