Pressure getting to me

TheNightmareTheNightmare Posts: 3,312 Boards Guru
Partly why I feel so overwhelmed and stressed is the pressure has been getting to me now because, when I was 21, I was still in a similar position to now, out of work, and what I was doing wasn’t really working. Then, when I was 22, I finally faced the fact that it wasn’t working and decided to get serious about something else. So, I started a forklift training course, which turned out to be a disaster. After that, I started looking for work, anything really, retail, delivery driver, warehouse, etc. But despite applying, I wasn’t getting anywhere. Now, months into 23, I’m still out of work. It’s really hard. I turn 24 in the summer, and the pressure is kicking in. It just gets a bit scary, you know? I just want to land something. I keep worrying that I’m going to resent myself for not having a job. I’ve been trying for so long, and that’s all I can do.

I have a bit of extra support, which I’m hoping will help, so I just hope something comes up soon. It’s just not easy, the waiting game is hard, and the uncertainty is even harder. Just hoping something comes up soon.

    hey @TheNightmare 🙂

i completely get why you’re feeling overwhelmed, it’s so hard when you’re putting in the effort, trying different things, and still not seeing the progress you want. that pressure of feeling like time is passing while things stay the same can be really discouraging, especially when you’re comparing where you are now to where you expected to be, but honestly, the fact that you’re still trying, still pushing forward despite how tough it’s been, says so much about your determination!

i know it might not feel like it right now, but none of your effort has been wasted. every application, every course, every attempt, it all counts because it shows that you’re refusing to give up. i get that it’s frustrating when it feels like nothing is paying off yet, but sometimes, these things take longer than they should, and it’s not a reflection on you or your worth. the job market can be brutal, and there are so many factors beyond your control.

i really hope the extra support helps make a difference and that you get the opportunity you deserve soon. i know waiting and dealing with all the uncertainty is one of the hardest parts, but please don’t let it make you doubt yourself. you are doing everything you can, and that’s all anyone can ask. i really believe something will come through for you!

    always here for you <3
