I’ve spoken about this before a few times, but it just gets to me sometimes that this is my final full year in this community. I only have several months of 2026 left before I finish, and I’m dreading it because this place has been such a huge part of my life. It’s truly a great community in so many ways, full of lovely, supportive mods and members. It has helped me get through tough times, and I don’t know if I could have coped without it. It might have all been too much for me. I know there are other communities out there, but this one is so special. When I have opened up about heavier topics and poured my heart out, the support I have received has been amazing, even long term. It has kept me determined, motivated, and looking for work through setbacks.
At the moment, I just feel empty after support threads finish, and I get upset when they’re cancelled. I think it’s just in my personal life, I get a bit upset and feel this empty feeling because I haven’t found anything I enjoy yet, and I just need to find that. Being on this community and coming to support spaces is something I enjoy, though. Getting involved with supporting you amazing people is rewarding, and it helps me feel like I’m contributing to something meaningful. I joined back in February 2022 while still in college, and things went downhill in my personal life from there, but this community has seen me grow and mature as a person. The nonjudgmental and kind nature of everyone here has made me feel safe and even made me a nicer person in some ways.
This community has been the main support space for my struggles, and if I do struggle after I finish here, I won’t have the same support. Even though I might have something similar, I don’t even know if there’s anything closely the same, I’m dreading it. Even if my other issues are sorted, life is still tough, and bad days happen. I know that, and I’ve gotten through them here. The support I’ve gotten has meant everything, and without that, I feel like I’ll be left to handle it all on my own.
Leaving all the amazing people I have met here and knowing I will not stay in contact with them is, of course, tough too. There is not much I could fault about this community, which makes the thought of leaving it even harder. It’s been my safe space, and the thought of losing that connection really gets to me.
