Not missing chat threads

TheNightmareTheNightmare Posts: 2,747 Boards Guru
The chat thread scheduled for Friday was canceled, but I was out for a meal during that time. I prefer to be at home during chat threads to fully focus on them, just as I prefer to focus entirely on outings when I’m out. Ideally, I would schedule outings either before chat threads or rearrange them for a different day to avoid conflicts. If I were working, that would take priority, but outings are not essential and can be amended or rescheduled. I try to keep Friday at 8 PM free for chat threads, but I struggle to come up with excuses to change outing plans without revealing my participation in these threads, as no one in real life knows that I use this platform, and I prefer to keep it confidential. I need a reasonable excuse to rearrange outings to ensure I don’t miss the chat threads, as this community and these threads are very important to me. They are especially helpful for talking about any struggles I’ve had during the week, and it's great to vent to the amazing, friendly mods. The support from these chat threads is probably the best and most helpful form of support I have, with the whole boards community being supportive, though the chat threads are more live and active. I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I would prefer to rearrange outings to get support here because it is very helpful. I just want to know how I can try my best to prevent outings from clashing with these support spaces, so I was wondering if anyone had advice.

You could say you’re currently doing an online course every Friday?

Closer people like my uncle would probably know if I was doing a course because I normally would tell them about something like this. Might be a good idea for some people like friends though. Thanks for the quick reply bro.

I don’t tend to cancel things that are already planned, but if I really need support and another spontaneous plan comes up, I have said in the past that I have a meeting for my volunteering (people close to me know I volunteer here as a member of the youth voice groups). I haven’t done it for ages but will if I really need the support from a thread or chat (in that case i probably wouldn’t enjoy going out anyway).
