Hey does anyone know how to do a covering letter or have any experience? I need to do one for my poetry but lost with it

I have done some covering letters in the past, to be fair mine weren't the best at all. But normally it would be the date, time,(had to spell check then ) address, for the top part of it. Then you normally go into your skills and why you may be suited for that job ish. Im still quite new to cover letters too. I hope it all goes well though .
