(TW: mentions of rape) I’m terrified for my mums life

Last night at the dinner table, my mum told us about a homeless man who was a rapist, being released early. This man happens to be in a town where my mum works. I am absolutely petrified that he might hurt her. I don’t know what to do, but I’m fucking terrified.

Edit: I suddenly realised that other girls and family members who work in town are also at risk. I am petrified.

so sry to hear this the system is letting the wrong ppl out of prison. from a girl myself i would recommend if your going outside take someone with you also if your going out at night and noone is with you make sure to stay where theres traffic and make sure to stay where theres light bc ppl will be around. if you find yourself in a situation where you feel unsafe pls call 999 or go to a shop or approach someone and explain bc your safety is priority. im here for you 🩷
keep your face always toward the sunshine and shadows will fall behind you. 🤍

    Hello bignosegirly0

I'm Brianna, one of the moderators here on community. This situation you've described sounds quite stressful and worrisome. I'm sorry that you're experiencing this right now. Have you shared how you're feeling with your mum? Or anyone else who lives in that town? I'm sure you're not the only who is feeling scared about this happening. If you ever feel the need to reach out for more practical support there is an organisation called Liberty who give advice on human rights and civil liberties issues, including criminal justice, police complaints, public order etc. Their website is www.libertyhumanrights.org.uk.

I hope you're able to do things that help to make you feel safe in the days that follow. Whether that's watching a comfort show, talking with your loved ones, or anything that brings you warmth or security <3

@Sian321 hey, apologies for the late response. I wanted to delete my account ages ago. But since I keep getting replies, I decided to get my account back. I'm feeling better, thank you. Nothing bad has happened, thankfully.
