Have you checked with your sixth form whether the books are available at the sixth form's library? One of my AS Level classes provided the textbooks. For my other classes, the teachers provided photocopies of the text and EPUBs/PDFs online. Of course, this varies from sixth form to sixth form, and class to class. You may also want to check Facebook.

As someone who did A-levels pre-covid I know the feeling of having to get books for sixth form especially the required or suggested reading. Yep the books themselves can be super pricey and expensive. It's why I think all schools should provide the readings to students for free because then it's not coming out of your own money. It kind of shows personally that schools don't often support their students when they should. My school was a bit like that though I borrowed a lot of my books from my school. I know sometimes you can find some of the books in charity or thrift shops as once I found an entire university media book in there which helped me when I went to college. I also found a GCSE book in one too. They are also cheaper as well so your not paying full price. However, Amazon can be quite good for getting books. But wow they sound super pricey especially for someone doing A-levels too. You'd think the schools would kind of provide the equipment and reading needed for that class <3. They sound like very good books though and very interesting as well. I was originally going to study sociology so that may have been the book I would have read xd. But the class didn't have enough numbers or interest so my school never let us study it. I hope sixth form goes well for you though <3. Im always here too if you need any help or tips with things.

Hey @toffuna101 - these are really expensive! I remember spending a lot on textbooks whilst at uni in particular. Something that helped me was that our uni had a Facebook page and a website where students could sell their second hand books to younger students and so I bought quite a few books for a really cheap price doing it that way. I'm sure not if something like that exists at your college? :)

That's a shame @toffuna101 - yeah it was the same at uni for me, Facebook was dying out and we mostly used Snapchat and TikTok! But it was a page set up by our uni and some students did use it so they could sell their old books for some cash :)

Might be worth reaching out to one of the support staff at your college to see if they have any advice on cheap alternatives!

Not college @toffuna101 because I started buying all my textbooks until I studied my master's degree (as you said, very expensive!) but more university-related. In university, I stumbled across Perlego - it is a subscription service.

There was also a free trial month but I am not sure if that applies anymore (I hope so!). You can pay either monthly, termly or yearly and you can access unlimited textbooks in that time. It might be worth using the search feature before signing up to using it to make sure those books are available through Perlego but I found it cheaper than buying books individually.

There are, of course, shops like Amazon's 'used' books and eBay too - it just depends on what is the most affordable to you and how many books you will need!
