I remember on the news a daughter of a father was kidnapped n killed and he cheered with 'YES', why was tht?

I remember this, I raised an eyebrow when I first watched it. I believe he cheered but it was bittersweet. He thought that her dying would be better than her being held hostage in Gaza and going through whatever prolonged suffering those in Gaza have to experience.

His daughter was later found alive though and they were reunited so that's really nice news.
