Notification for "the mix started a new discussion"

I've just had a notification by email that @TheMix started new discussion. I wasn't tagged and it wasn't a PM.

Have I clicked something I shouldn't or is this a new feature, if so how do I turn it off, I only usually get emails for PM and tagging and any more will confuse me.

Anyone else had this?

    Yeah, I got them for community announcements.

    At the bottom of the email it says

    “ You are receiving this email because you are following category Community Announcements. Unsubscribe”

    If you click unsubscribe it should stop the emails

    Ah cheers @Slinky i shall try that. But since when am i following it? I don't get most of them just that one

    Thank you for flagging, we’ll take a look and see what’s happened here. It might be a new update with our software here that we’re not aware of. Do you have the time of the email that was sent to you?
    Maybe somethings don't get better, but we do. We get stronger. We learn to live with our situations as messy and ugly as they are. We fix what we can and we adapt to what we can't. Maybe some of us will never fully be okay, but at least we're here. We're still trying. We're doing the best we can. That's worth celebrating too ❤

    @Aife I just checked and I've now had 2, one sent at 12.28pm and another at 5.08pm, both today.

    Also my notifications seem to be showing up as having come through twice, like the number next to the notifications bit is incorrect.

    I got that as well, and i also am seeing that I have 2 new notifications on here even though it was just for that one post. The notifications are defo broken on here

    Heyo! Think we got to the bottom of this.

    For new accounts, email notifications for DMs and posts in the Community Announcements forum are turned on by default (these are the only default email noficiations enabled).

    We're making some technical changes to how new members agree to our terms of service on the registration page. Our hunch is that we did something when we made those changes that gave some of you the default email noficiation settings for new accounts (not super sure how!)

    As @Slinky said you can unsubscribe via the email, or go to your notification preferences page and select what notifications you want to receive (in popup and email form).

    Here's a step-by-step of how to find the page manually:

    Good to know I can turn it off... but after a few days it's actually kinda useful. Silver linings.. but my notifications are defo still coming through twice

    btw i unsubscribed to this and did the settings thing but started getting them again today. Not a big deal but thought id let you know

    I found it annoying as fuck at first but I've actually started finding it kinda useful, means the important stuff like chat being closed comes through to my emails (which i check more than i check here).

    Id just like to say something, ive had all these turned off, and been getting email notifications still, unsubscribed at the bottom just now, to see if this fixes it, ive had both Email and boards nottifcations turned off, although, in my bottom right, while writing this, i did get a notification of someone posting a thread.

    the emails starts with something like:
    [The Mix Support Community]


    One of my latest ones was from 21 hrs ago:
    [The Mix Support Community] Gemma Started a new discussion. 📢 General Chat will be closed tonight but Support Chat and our Topic-Specific Chat will be open

    But ive been getting 2 - 4 emails a day, while having all my notifications for both on boards and in email turned off, so i dont think its just a "new accounts" thing

    And change the url to be your username instead, it should send you to your 'subscribed' page and you can unsubscribe from there.
