Hey @ellie2000, yes it's completely fine. Your feelings are valid, and doing what you want can really help you take the weight off your chest when you let go of what people expect you to do

@ellie2000 Sometimes it can be hard trying to please everyone and live up to someone's expectations. Therefore, just making sure that you feel okay is valid too and as @Kaii said your feelings are valid too alongside others. I think its kind that you put others first but always make sure that you are taking time for yourself too as well. <3

You are an individual not wheelwork in a machine. Others' expectations is an obstacle that will limit your dreams, skills, and future. Follow your vision and achieve what you seek.

Pleasing is a temporary emotion. Once they feel pleased, what's next? They will start to have other expectations. Then you will have to repeat and fulfil their expectations again. It is difficult and unrealistic to follow their expectation without sacrificing all of your humanity and becoming mentally sick and exhausted.

If their expectations are somewhat beneficial (if you see it as beneficial/correct/right), do acknowledge their expectations and respect it HOWEVER, you must put yourself first. As I remember a wise man once said, listen and respect others but to become your own man, you must respect yourself. Do not argue or fight but still be yourself.
